You can understand something completely… and still react to it.
For many people, this shows up as emotional triggers that won’t go away, even when the cause is clear.
That’s the part most people don’t expect.
They’ve done the thinking.
They’ve made sense of the past.
They know where it came from.
And yet… the same reaction shows up again.
Faster than thought.
Stronger than logic.
That’s because the reaction isn’t coming from the thinking part of the mind.
It’s coming from a stored response.
A pattern learned at a different time… that hasn’t been updated.
So when something in the present even slightly resembles the past, the system reacts automatically.
Not because it matters now.
But because it hasn’t been resolved.
In my work, we don’t spend time trying to manage that reaction.
We change it at the level it’s actually happening.
And when that shift happens, it’s very clear.
Clients notice it immediately.
They think about the situation…
and there’s nothing there.
No tension.
No spike.
No emotional weight.
Just neutral.
That’s when you know it’s done.
Because you’re not controlling the reaction anymore.
It simply isn’t there.
If something still triggers a reaction, even though you understand it…
that’s the part that can change. This is explored further in emotional triggers and trauma resolution.
It’s also exactly what I work on in private sessions designed to resolve the response.
If it’s time for that to stop, feel free to message me.
Private sessions are available by appointment, both in person during residencies and online.
If you’d like to explore this, you can message me directly.
